I'm a recent transplant to Minneapolis, having moved here from Madison, Wis. after my wife took a job in the Twin Cities this fall.

I have roughly seven years experience in the newspaper industry, with more than five spent in Dane County at a group of weeklies.

In 2014, I helped start – yes, started – a monthly publication covering Fitchburg with plans to turn it into a weekly in the future. I'm proud to have been part of such a great team – writing, taking photos, designing pages and editing stories.

Our weekly publications improved under my time at UNG, too. We boosted our Wisconsin Newspaper Association award count in recent years taking home half a dozen accolades for each publication this past year.

During my time at Unified Newspaper Group, I have:
• Supervised or covered more than 10 news beats, including planning and development, local and county government, community groups and municipal services
• Conducted committee discussions on newspaper policy, production workflow and ways to improve photography/design/reporting
• Managed production of weekly newspaper from story planning to layout and design
